Lake District River Trips

If you fancy seeing another side of the Lake District then why not try one of Mobile Adventure's river trips?

What is it?

From the seat of your canoe or kayak you can see parts of Cumbria unattainable by any other means, and whatever your level of experience we guarantee that after a short period of training on a lake you will be ready to tackle your first 'white water' river trip! If this is your first time on moving water you'll be amazed at how the boat 'comes alive' in its natural environment.

As the river carries us along we may see herons and kingfishers and will tackle several stretches of white water rapids, all whilst being surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in England, this really will give you some amazing memories to take back home.

If you have NOT paddled before, we will run the trip in canoes. If you do have some kayaking experience, then the choice is yours. Please be honest, as it is MUCH harder in kayaks if you don’t have the basics!

Paddled Before?

If you are more experienced and have a certain Lakeland river trip in mind then please feel free to contact us, and we can provide transport / equipment, local details, or an instructor for you. Our modern specialised river running boats handle very well and will forgive the odd mistake! It is a surprisingly gentle sport as the river current does most of the work allowing you to sit back and enjoy the ride. Before running any rapids a comprehensive briefing will be given by your instructor who will never be far away. The only requirement is to be confident in water; an ability to swim is not essential as you will be wearing a buoyancy aid throughout the trip. Mobile Adventure's river trips are run throughout the year, with the venue chosen depending on the groups ability and local water levels. Some of our favourite trips are:- Middle Derwent, River Leven and the River Brathey .
