Morning Via Ferrata

We will meet you up at Honister Slate Mine, around a 20 min drive from Keswick, and the site of the first Via Ferrata adventure course to be built in the UK. Once the team have all kitted up with harnesses, lanyards and helmets you will be given a safety briefing before heading out on to the course, through some of the old mine tunnels. A Via Ferrata is similar to rock climbing, but using metal ladders, bridges and even cargo nets to ease your groups progress up the sheer sides of Honister Crag. At all times you are connected to a wire safety cable, (similar to the system at GoApe!) ensuring your safety if you should slip. Once we have reached the summit of the Crag it is a gentle walk back down to the mine, where we will stop for lunch, and a laugh at any passing groups!

Afternoon Ghyll Scramble

After eating, we will drive around to the Ghyll (another beautiful 25min drive) for your afternoon activity. Our Stonycroft Ghyll scramble (as featured on BBC1) is now the most popular outdoor activity in the Lake District, and involves descending a mountain stream under the safe guidance of our experienced instructors.

We supply high quality wetsuits, helmets and jackets, along with neoprene socks and buoyancy aids if required. From the carpark a short 10min walk up to the start gives us a good body warm up, and then we're in the water for the descent!

The descent includes slides, dives, jumping down waterfalls and maybe an underwater passage for the very brave! All the challenges are optional, but no matter which way you choose, it is guaranteed to have you buzzing by the finish, with some unforgettable memories of your adventure to take home.

Throughout both parts of your day our experienced and friendly instructor will guide you around, ensuring your safety and maximising your enjoyment of a truly unique Lake District experience!
