What is it?

Earn your equipment

Teams as small as 4 begin by completing some simple fun team challenges to earn ‘points’ to buy their raft building materials. These challenges will be adapted by your instructor depending on your group.

Design and build your raft

Once you have chosen what building equipment to spend your hard earned points on, you and your team need to design, build a raft and then paddle your creation around our course on the beautiful Derwent Water.

Although the instructors will give a few points, and teach some basic knots, total dry success is NOT guaranteed…… which all adds up to a great fun raft building activity! Even if the rafts do stay together, a quick round of 'last one standing' seems to sort that out 🙂

Our half day raft building activity sees many different designs being created from a cruise liner through to the Titanic, but one thing is certain - a great wet fun packed session for all (particularly the Instructors!!). For this session be prepared to get wet, so you will need to bring a towel and a change of clothes, although we provide top quality wetsuits, cags and buoyancy aids as standard.

Raft building is an excellent team-building activity which involves constructing a raft using a limited set of materials. The activity requires collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills to build a seaworthy raft that can float and carry team members - without falling apart!
