Sailing in the Lake District on Derwent Water
Learn to dinghy sail with Mobile Adventure and you will be introduced to a sport that can be enjoyed at all levels and by all ages. The Lake District is home to some of the best inland waters in England, and when combined with Mobile Adventures Royal Yachting Association Trained Dinghy Instructors, you can be confident that the standard of tuition and equipment will be excellent. The RYA Dinghy scheme has been extensively revised, and in learning to sail you will follow the syllabus for RYA Start Sailing & Basic Skills Certificates.
Typical itinerary
- 9am
- Leave Keswick and travel to chosen venue.
- 9.30am
- Kit up and begin with dry land instruction.
- 10.30am
- Take to the water and spend the day learning new skills.
- 4pm
- Return to dry land with a chance to change clothing if necessary!
On the water...
Sailing takes place in the Lake District on either Derwent Water or Windermere, both with a purpose built beach for easy launching and recovery. We have access to an excellent fleet of sailing boats, with various configurations to suit the wind conditions and your ability.
Our RYA qualified dinghy instructor will take you to Derwnt Water or Windermere (both in the Lake District). The instructor will often start off in the sailing boat with you, and your activity will be tailored to your skill level, from complete beginners, right through to the club racer.
Many of our students go on to join their local sailing clubs after experiencing the wonder of journeying under sail. Maybe you'll be one of them!
