Rock climbings special combination of mental and physical challenges makes it a unique experience. Once you’ve tried it, you’re hooked! The personal rewards that come from combining concentration, agility, balance, strength and judgement are unequalled in any other sport. Nothing heightens the senses more than the combination of delight and relief that comes from reaching the top of a demanding rock climbing route!
Whatever standard you climb at, from novice to expert, these feelings remain the same. The key lies in seeking out appropriate new and exciting challenges that will stretch you both physically and mentally. That’s where Mobile Adventure comes in.
Based in the centre of the Lake District National Park, we’re surrounded by some of the finest rock climbing areas in Britain, from the towering Langdale Pikes and exposed mountain crags of Scafell to the inviting rock of Borrowdale, where most of our taster sessions are based. As the Borrowdale valley was formed by volcanic action, there’s a huge variety of rock within easy reach. The first recorded climb in Borrowdale was in 1892 and there are now over 1000 recognised climbs of all grades on some 66 separate crags.
This unique situation not only allows us to conjure up huge variety, it also means we can be totally flexible, adapting our rock climbing location and content to suit both the weather and your ability and goals. This means that we can spend time actually rock climbing rather than searching for the perfect location!
On a 'taster' session you will quickly master the basics of tying into the rope, belaying and moving smoothly up the rock. We may also take on a challenging abseil - what better way to come back to earth!
Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to be super fit or 6 foot tall, climbing truly is a sport for all.
