What are the 3 Peaks?

Introduction to the Three Peaks Challenge

The National Three Peaks involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. These are Scafell Pike [978m], Ben Nevis [1344m] and Snowdon [1085m] respectively. Different people will take different periods of time to do the 3 peaks. Those who are brave, noble, or just plain stupid, try to do all 3 within the space of 24 hours - The Three Peaks Challenge! There are many reasons for attempting the UK’s best know mountain Challenge, whether it be to raise funds for deserving charitable causes, to test yourself against the mountains or simply for the sheer enjoyment of being amongst some of the most dramatic scenery in the World. Whatever your reason for raising to the Challenge it will be one of the most memorable experiences you will have. Many underestimate the true scale of this challenge, and finish outside of the '24Hours'. However with some basic training, and with the right equipment and support, it is achievable by any reasonably fit person.

Why choose Mobile Adventure?

  • We are one of the few 3 Peaks Challenge organizers who actually have 'hands on experience' as we guide our own groups - indeed we provide guides and drivers to many other so called 'challenge providers'! All of our staff are full time professional outdoor instructors, and will be able to answer any questions that you may have.
  • All of our guides have completed the challenge at least 12 times as well as having extensive mountain guiding experience through the UK and beyond.
  • We DO NOT work with massive groups, (that is not the point of mountain walking!) - You will get a personal, quality, bespoke service.

What we provide:

  • Transportation throughout the event.
  • Qualified guides and instructors who accompany you on each mountain leg on a 1:8 ratio.
  • Use of our excellent outdoor equipment, walking poles and head-torches.
  • First night accommodation with a 3 course meal and breakfast the following day.
  • All food and drinks during the event - all diets catered for with a hot meal at the finish.
  • A photo / film disc from your event and a completion certificate.
  • Memories to last a life time!

When organizing The Three Peaks Challenge our main concern is that not only should the event be operated as safely as possible but also that it should be achievable by any reasonably active person with no mountaineering experience. Another important concern is that the event should have no impact on the fragile mountain environment and that there should be no disruption to local residents or farming activities.

Contact us today and let us sort out the details for you - Simply undertaking the challenge is hard enough! We can make arrangements for groups of friends, clubs, companies and charitable organizations.

The 3 Peaks reality!

As a continuous walking challenge there is little or no rest (apart from the transport links) between mountains. At any time of the year the weather in the British Mountains can be very unpredictable, so you may well encounter cold, wet and windy conditions. You will need to be prepared to carry a complete change of clothing in your rucksack.

You will also have to deal with having very little sleep over the event, indeed some people find this the hardest aspect to deal with!

The total walking distance covered over the event is “approximately” 35.5km or 22 miles. As part of our commitment to preserving the mountain environment, all routes on the 3 Peaks Challenge follow maintained Public Rights of way.

Who takes part in our Challenges?

We have had participants from large corporate organizations, charities, works sports and social clubs, walking and fitness clubs, rotary clubs and general groups of friends or workmates. If you can get a team together - you are welcome to enter and take part..!
